VR Experience

Students in the STEAM classroom at McNulty Academy recently embarked on a series of virtual adventures thanks to the district’s new VR Expedition 2.0 headsets, bringing global learning directly into the classroom.

Led by STEAM teacher Tara Ponzi, students used virtual reality technology to explore countries, habitats and historic landmarks from around the world. Their immersive experiences included visits to underwater caves, the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Canyon, redwood forests and erupting volcanoes. Students even took a virtual journey into space, landing on the moon.

The hands-on experience allowed students to deepen their understanding of geography, science and history while engaging multiple senses through interactive technology. Virtual reality also encouraged curiosity, discussion and critical thinking as students explored environments they may never have the opportunity to visit in person.

The VR Expedition 2.0 headsets are part of the district’s continued commitment to enhancing STEAM instruction and providing innovative learning opportunities that prepare students for the future.
