Second Grader Authors

Families gathered at McNulty Elementary School last week to celebrate a special milestone as second-grade students proudly shared the books they wrote and published throughout the school year.

The event gave students the opportunity to showcase their creativity, writing skills and hard work while reading and sharing their stories with family members and friends. Thanks to the generous support of the GASD Educational Foundation, every student received a professionally published copy of their book to take home and cherish for years to come.

The publishing celebration marked the culmination of months of planning, drafting, revising and illustrating, giving students an authentic experience as young authors.

“This celebration is such a meaningful way to recognize our students’ hard work and creativity,” McNulty Principal Tina O’Brien said. “Seeing the pride on their faces as they shared their published books with their families was truly special. Opportunities like this help students build confidence, develop a love of writing and realize that their voices and stories matter.”

The celebration highlighted the strong partnership between families, educators and the GASD Educational Foundation in creating memorable learning experiences that inspire students to grow as readers, writers and lifelong learners.
