The Greater Amsterdam School District announces its Athletes of the Week for the 2023-24 school year.
Fall Athletics – Week 5

Ailani Aleman-Rivera (Soccer)

Ian McClary (XC)
Ailani Aleman-Rivera (Soccer): Ailani contributed to 6 shots on goal last week. She also contributed to multiple offensive plays that led to scores by other players. Defensively, she helped cover girls and keep them from making runs as well as being a great Captain to our team.
Ian McClary (XC): Ian is a new member of the Cross Country team this year. He put in time over the summer to be ready by attending summer sessions. Since Ian has started the season he has managed to significantly improve his run times race by race. Ian is the motivation of his team by always being positive and cheering on his teammates when they are racing.

Zach Becker (Soccer): Zach has been a true leader this season, demonstrating what the expectation is at practice. Zach has presented his efforts as a winger to help others find goal scoring chances. Zach continues to push players in training, and in games offensively and defensively. Doing what it takes to be a good teammate.
Jomarie Rivera (Volleyball): Jomarie is a captain of the team. She is one of our most consistent defensive players with a serve receive percentage average of 80%. She also averages 6 points a game.
Kate Teresco (XC): Kate is a freshman running XC for the first time. She worked consistently all summer and put her best effort in every practice. In the beginning of the summer she could barely run 1 mile. Now she is crushing 5ks, running better each week.
Kalista Werner (Tennis) - This is Kalista's second year on the tennis team; she has advanced from an exhibition player to #4 singles within this year. Kalista has attended voluntary practice every day last week while the top 3 singles have been preparing for individual sectionals. This shows her dedication and drive for the sport
