The Advanced Writing Center Theory and Practice course at the Greater Amsterdam School District's Writing Rams HQ recently went on a trip to the University of Massachusetts-Boston for the Secondary School Writing Centers Association national writing center conference. Led by AHS teachers Stacey Hahn, also the Writing Rams HQ director, and Kiara Kruger, this multi-day field trip proved to be a great experience for the students.

Once at the conference, students dove headfirst into interactive sessions and engaging conversations with tutors from across the country.

What set the AHS delegation apart was their active participation in the conference. Several students took center stage and delivered compelling presentations, showcasing their expertise and passion for writing center practices.

Now back at AHS, the Writing Rams HQ peer tutors are ready with to implement the innovative ideas and strategies they learned from the conference. With their knowledge, they are determined to elevate the writing center experience for their peers and foster a culture of excellence in writing across the school.

As the Greater Amsterdam School District continues to prioritize student-centered learning and academic excellence, initiatives like the Writing Rams HQ showcase the district's commitment to providing educational opportunities that empower students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Stay tuned as the Writing Rams HQ embarks on this exciting new chapter, fueled by inspiration and fueled by a shared passion for the written word.
