Amsterdam High School is proud to announce that Susana Gomez Aristizabal, recently represented our school at the Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute. Held on March 9-11, 2024, at the state capital in Albany, this event served as a platform to equip Hispanic students statewide with legislative experiences while enhancing their critical thinking, writing, public speaking, and leadership skills.

Susana Gomez Aristizabal joined over 250 students from seven delegations for the 34 annual Institute. The event featured a series of activities, including team-building exercises, a Mock Assembly session, a student recognition dinner, and workshops tailored around this year's theme: The Art of Democracy.

In recognition of her participation and leadership qualities, Susana Gomez Aristizabal, alongside six other members of the Capital District Delegation, was selected to address the Board of Regents Meeting on March 11, 2024. This unique opportunity allowed them to share their PRHYLI experience and present recommendations to the board.

The Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute serves as a beacon of empowerment for Hispanic students across the state, providing them with the tools and experiences to progress in the world of leadership and advocacy. Amsterdam High School congratulates Susana Gomez Aristizabal and all participants for their achievements and commitment to excellence.
