The Greater Amsterdam School District announces its Athletes of the Week for the 2023-24 school year.
Spring Athletics - Week 1
Mia Natale (Track)
Pat Vidulich (Baseball):
Mia Natale (Track): As an eighth grader, she excelled in her first varsity track meet. At Saturday's Bi-County Invitational she placed first in the 800 meters, and ran a great leg on the second place 4 x 800 meter relay. Mia, who was the only middle school athlete in these events, is also a top student and role model for her fellow Lynch students
Pat Vidulich (Baseball): He pitched sixth innings with sixth strikeouts and only one run. Scored a run himself and walked no one in a 4-1 win over Hudson falls. He was 1-4 with an RBI in a loss to Averill park and played solid defense at SS. He went two for four with RBI in loss to Queensbury. Again stellar defense.
More nominated athletes for Spring Athletics Week 1
Hailey Wheeler (Softball): Although we have not been able to play a game yet, her dedication at tryouts and practices is outstanding...She is always there to help me with everything I ask of her.
Olivie Dion (LAX): had 16 saves vs. Queensbury in a lopsided loss but more importantly kept her composure, communicated well with her defense and battled four quarters.
Parker McHeard (Track): grade 12, performed excellently in Saturday's Bi-County Invitational. He placed first in the shot put and 3rd in the discus. Parker is also a standout student and is committed to leadership as shown in his activities with the AHS JROTC.
Cooper Young (LAX): He had one goal, 15 forced turnovers, and 20 ground balls in three games. He locked down his opponent each game and was only scored on once. Cooper has also stepped up as a leader of the team as a junior.
