The Greater Amsterdam School District recently wrapped up its third successful year of the LEGO Robotics and You Cubed Math Enrichment Programs, leaving a lasting impression on students and educators alike. This year, the programs were hosted at Tecler Elementary, further expanding their reach and impact.

A strong turnout underscored the community’s enthusiasm for hands-on learning. A total of 118 students participated in the You Cubed Math sessions, while 127 students enrolled in the LEGO Robotics workshops. “We had so much fun with these two programs. Students came in and left with smiles on their faces,” said Principal Tina O’Brien of McNulty Elementary. “The programs were engaging and challenged students to critically think of new ways to problem-solve.”

The district’s commitment to providing top-tier educational experiences was evident in the funding for state-of-the-art materials and resources. Catering to a wide range of students—grades 1 to 8 for LEGO Robotics and grades 1 to 5 for You Cubed Math—the programs offered morning and afternoon sessions, ensuring students were engaged throughout the day. To create an optimal learning environment, students were also provided with lunch.

The Tecler Elementary School served as the program hub, although the benefits extended across all schools within the district.

This year’s program highlighted significant growth, building on the success of the previous year. Principal O’Brien praised the dedication of the teaching staff, noting that their guidance throughout the week-long program helped nurture creativity and problem-solving skills in the young participants.
