Music Leaders

The Greater Amsterdam School District is proud to recognize its March Musicians of the Month! These talented students have demonstrated exceptional musical ability, dedication, and leadership across a variety of programs, from band and chorus to general music classes.

Makenna Moran (AHS Clarinet): Makenna is a freshman clarinetist who is also a member of Majorettes during the marching season. Makenna is an excellent clarinetist who is a true asset to the concert band this year as she leads her section during rehearsals and performances. She is an independent player who has taken on solos and first parts with confidence as a freshman which is very impressive. Additionally, Makenna never misses a lesson, is incredibly kind and respectful and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Jade Phelps (LLA Alto Sax): Jade is an eighth grade alto sax player who plays in both concert and jazz band. Jade has come so far as a musician from last year, and constantly works hard to better herself and help other people. She always takes extra musical opportunities and most recently attended the Tri-M instrumental honors day at AHS. She frequently helps and motivates younger students, and makes the band room brighter every day with her warmth and kindness. Congratulations Jade- we are so proud of you!

Audrina Quackenbush (LLA Euphonium): Audrina Quackenbush has been an absolute rockstar in Band 6 this year! She participated in the All-County Jr. Band earlier this month, representing Amsterdam well on euphonium! Audrina is a hard worker with a positive attitude, always being one of the first in her section to finish a piece once it’s been handed out. She is always ready to help out her section, coaching one student who just made a switch to euphonium to make sure they’re successful, and even going out of her way to learn trombone slide positions on her own so she can help the trombones with their notes too! We’re so proud of you Audrina, keep up the great work!
