The Greater Amsterdam School District is proud to recognize its April Musicians of the Month! These talented students have demonstrated exceptional musical ability, dedication, and leadership across a variety of programs, from band and chorus to general music classes.
Devin Mastropole-Tompkins (Bass Clarinet): Devin is a senior bass clarinetist/low woodwind specialist who is an integral member of the band program. Devin has a keen interest in low woodwinds and has played bass clarinet, bari saxophone, and bass saxophone for the advanced concert band, jazz ensemble, and Marching Rams. He has served as a section leader for the Marching Rams, sound crew chief for the AHS Drama Club, and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Notably, Devin has become a self-taught instrument repair technician, helping the band program repair broken instruments and even bringing some back to playing condition that were thought to be beyond repair. Working alongside our district repair specialist, he has done incredible work that no student has done before him. Recently, Devin was honored by his teachers with a dedication plaque for the band room where he keeps his repair materials in hopes that there will be students who can follow in his footsteps and also take an interest in the art of instrument repair.
