High school students in Amsterdam’s RamFit program partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) to deliver a health and wellness program to Pre-K students at Tecler Elementary School. The initiative focused on promoting healthy eating and physical activity through hands-on learning.
As part of the collaboration, RamFit students led lessons centered on nutrition, food preparation, and movement-based activities. These lessons aligned with the goals of the CCE program, which aims to promote healthy habits in young children through education and peer modeling.
The high school students guided Pre-K participants through various stations. Activities included food tastings, basic cooking demonstrations, and physical exercises designed to support movement and engagement.
The partnership provided opportunities for both age groups. The younger students were introduced to new foods and physical activities, while the high school students gained experience in leadership and teaching.
This program reflects the district’s commitment to health education and student collaboration. By connecting older and younger students through shared learning, the district supports wellness and community engagement.
