Book Reading

Earlier this month, Lynch Literacy Academy student Briana McGee visited Barkley Elementary to present her first published book, Goodnight Little Village. Now a seventh grader, McGee is a former Barkley student who returned to her elementary school to share her recent accomplishment with younger students and staff. The visit was an opportunity to inspire future writers and celebrate a milestone in her creative journey.

Goodnight Little Village tells the story of a small town where everything becomes magical in the dreams of its residents. The idea came from McGee’s imagination and love for storytelling. She began working on the book during her time at Lynch and made the decision to pursue publication. The process included writing, revising, and preparing the manuscript for distribution with the support of her family and school.

McGee’s visit to Barkley was well received by students and staff, who were excited to hear from a former classmate who is now a published author. She read her book aloud and answered questions from students about the writing process and what it takes to bring a story to life. Her presence served as a reminder that students can achieve their goals with dedication and creativity.

As McGee continues her education at Lynch, she plans to write more books and hopes to encourage others to follow their interests. Her story is an example of student initiative and passion for learning. The Greater Amsterdam School District congratulates Briana McGee on her achievement and looks forward to seeing what she writes next.
