The Greater Amsterdam School District is proud to recognize June's Musicians of the Month, who have each demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, and leadership within our music programs. Congratulations to the following students for their hard work and commitment to excellence:
Naiomy Sanchez Quinones (AHS Baritone/Tuba): Naiomy is a sophomore who participates in concert band, advanced concert band, jazz ensemble, and marching band. She is always one of the first to volunteer when someone needs help with music, marching, or moving equipment and treats everyone with respect and kindness. Naiomy is multi-talented, this year having played both baritone and tuba in different bands to fit each ensembles’ instrumentation needs. In May, Naiomy was named the new Jr. Drum Major for the Amsterdam Marching Rams and will be attending the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy this July in Westfield Massachusetts along with new Sr. Drum Major, Alex Forte. Catch her conducting skills next fall at an AHS home football game!

Gabriel Panton (LLA Trumpet): Gabe is an 8th grade concert and jazz band trumpet player who has been such an important part of our LLA band family. Over the past three years, Gabe has worked hard to become an accomplished trumpet player, consistently attending lessons, and motivating other students to put in their best effort. He is one of the kindest people anyone could meet, has a great sense of humor, and never fails to make someone smile. He is an extremely motivated musician, and this upcoming fall he will be continuing his music education as a member of the Amsterdam High School band program. We will miss him next year, and wish him luck next year at AHS!

Haydn Steenburg (General Music 7) - Haydn is an exceptional seventh grade music student. She always puts her best effort into every project she makes and song she learns. She has even been working on learning advanced 2 hand piano playing as a bonus. Great work Haydn!

Emma Cetnar (Curie GM) :Emma is a third Grade student at Curie who always tries her best. She stepped up this year to perform two songs for our Flag Day ceremony that required lots of extra practice at home! She played “Yankee Doodle” and a piano duet “America the Beautiful” for our whole school assembly. Emma has played the piano at several of our grade level concerts in the past and continues to shine with every new challenge. She even represented the GASD performing a Level 1 NYSSMA solo at SCCC back in March. It is awesome to see how much progress she has made as a musician in such a short time. Way to go Emma!

Deviana Rivera (McNulty GM): Deviana is a Kindergarten student at McNulty. She has the best positive attitude and is always willing to try something new. She was a role model in our May concert, and she knew every song and motion - she even got to be a leader for one of the songs! Keep up the great effort, Deviana!
