Induction ceremony to be held Oct. 10 at Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. — The Greater Amsterdam School District has announced the 2025 inductees into the GASD Hall of Fame. Honorees will be inducted into the Athletic and Academic Wings of the Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. This year’s class also includes the 2025 Legacy Team and Butch Miller Award recipient.

Athletic Wing – Class of 2025

  • Sarah Adamowski (O’Connor), Class of 2012 – A collegiate golfer and three-time Section II Coach of the Year, Adamowski earned All-Conference honors at West Liberty University and currently coaches at Albany Academy for Girls.

  • Charles R. Beekman, Class of 1977 – A three-sport athlete and High School All-American, Beekman played football at Delaware State and has served as an Amsterdam coach and mentor for more than 30 years.

  • Jacob “Jake” Krong, Class of 2002 – A distance runner and academic standout, Krong became a nationally competitive marathoner and is currently a research director at Intermountain Healthcare in Utah.

  • Nicholas Miseno, Jr., Class of 1986 – A competitive bowler with nearly 100 perfect games, Miseno is also an AHS coach and longtime educator who has mentored student-athletes in the sport.

  • Olivia Lazarou, Class of 2018 – A cross country and track athlete who holds multiple school records and competed at the Division I level.

Academic Wing – Class of 2025

  • Dr. William Bouton – A retired GASD teacher, Army veteran and founder of Art from the Heart Studios. Bouton has donated proceeds from his artwork to local causes including food pantries and veterans’ shelters.

  • Aimee M. Brunelle, MS, ATC, Class of 1991 – An athletic trainer and wellness leader, Brunelle is the only person to earn all five major awards from the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association. She also received the BIANYS Mark Ylvisaker Educational Advocacy Award for her work with brain injury survivors.

  • Jonathan Adorno, Class of 2015 – A Gates Millennium Scholar and Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering at The Ohio State University. Adorno is involved in neuroscience research and student mentorship.

  • Dr. Nicole Boschi, Class of 2003 – A public health leader and first-generation college graduate, Boschi has led national work in cancer research, drug access and tobacco control.

  • Anthony “Tony” Orapello – A GASD educator and coach for nearly 50 years. Orapello taught science and health and led the Girls Varsity Tennis team to more than 21 Big Ten titles. He also founded the Greater Amsterdam Tennis Association and held roles in Section II leadership.

Legacy Team – 2014 Amsterdam Boys 4x400m Relay Team

The 2014 Amsterdam Boys Track and Field 4x400m Relay Team is this year’s Legacy Team. The team won the New York State Federation Championship and placed third at the New Balance High School National Championship, earning High School All-American honors. Their time of 3:17.01 remains the fastest 4x400m relay in Section II history.

Team members include:

  • David Gravely – First leg runner and multi-event state qualifier.

  • Julian Gallup – Second leg, long jump state qualifier, and former AHS quarterback who went on to play Division I baseball at Niagara University.

  • Andrew Druziak – Third leg runner who later played basketball at Utica College.

  • Izaiah Brown – Anchor and multiple-time state champion who competed for Rutgers University. Brown was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022.

Butch Miller Award – Mike Bielecki

The 2025 Butch Miller Award is posthumously awarded to Michael P. Bielecki, a 1967 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. Bielecki served as the longtime statistician for Bishop Scully and Amsterdam High School football. A retired state financial examiner, Bielecki was recognized for his consistent behind-the-scenes support of local athletics. He passed away on April 20, 2023.
