The Greater Amsterdam School District has been named Liberty ARC’s 2025 Employer of the Year for its outstanding partnership and commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace.
Each year, Liberty ARC recognizes businesses and organizations that create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. GASD was honored for its continued collaboration with Liberty ARC to support individuals seeking vocational experience and long-term employment.
Through programs such as group learning opportunities, summer internships, and individualized placements, the district has provided a welcoming environment for individuals to build confidence and independence. Several employees supported through Liberty ARC have advanced into full-time positions with benefits.
“Superintendent Richard Ruberti and his team have embraced this collaboration with professionalism, kindness, and respect, fostering an environment where employees feel valued,” the district’s nomination read. “It is with deep gratitude and great pride that we present this award to the Amsterdam School District for its leadership in fostering workplace inclusion, supporting growth, and celebrating the abilities of every individual.”
Liberty ARC is Montgomery County’s chapter of The Arc New York, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and promoting inclusion within the community.
