The Greater Amsterdam School District’s Marching Rams received exciting news this morning when WTEN announced that the ensemble had been selected as the Fan Favorite of the 56th Annual Schenectady County Holiday Parade. Students traveled to the station for a live segment, where the surprise recognition was delivered by County Legislator Rich Ruzzo. The announcement celebrated the group’s talent, hard work and spirit, as well as the strong community support that continues to uplift the Marching Rams year after year.
Superintendent Richard Ruberti expressed gratitude to district staff for coordinating early-morning transportation and for consistently championing the Marching Rams throughout their season. “Our students put in countless hours of practice and consistently represent our district with pride and professionalism,” Ruberti said. “Seeing them recognized on a regional stage is incredibly meaningful, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this moment possible. Their success reflects the dedication of our advisors, families and the entire GASD community.”

Students were visibly excited from the moment they walked into the WTEN studio. Advisors shared that the students’ reactions — a blend of joy, pride and awe as they experienced the energy of a live newsroom — created a memory they won’t soon forget. The morning served as a powerful reminder of how meaningful recognition can be for young performers and how deeply the community believes in their work.
