Barkley Elementary School celebrated National Law Enforcement Day on Friday by continuing its longstanding tradition of welcoming members of local law enforcement to the school community.
Students gathered outside around the bus loop to greet officers with handmade signs, cards, cookies and enthusiastic cheers as a show of appreciation. The celebration highlighted the strong relationship between the school and local law enforcement agencies and provided students with an opportunity to express their gratitude in a meaningful way.
“This is such a special tradition for our school,” said Barkley Elementary Principal Nancy Rad. “Our students truly enjoy showing their appreciation, and it’s wonderful for them to connect with members of local law enforcement in such a positive and welcoming way.”
The event created an energetic and uplifting start to the day, with students proudly sharing messages of thanks and support. Staff members noted that the annual celebration reinforces lessons of respect, community partnership and gratitude.
Barkley Elementary and the Greater Amsterdam School District thank all members of local law enforcement who took the time to visit and engage with students during the celebration.
