The Amsterdam High School Jazz Ensemble earned top recognition at this year’s Fonda-Fultonville Jazz Festival, competing in Class A and receiving a score of 187 out of 200.
The ensemble was awarded a Gold Overall Rating and earned Best Brass Section in Class A.
Three students were also recognized as All-Star Musicians for their individual performances: Alexandra Forte on tenor saxophone, Bryce Greco on trumpet, and Naiomy Sanchez-Quinones on trombone.
The performance marked the group’s return to the festival after a one-year hiatus. Students prepared throughout the year for the event and represented Amsterdam High School at the regional level.
The Jazz Ensemble will look ahead to continuing its work and returning to the festival next year.
