Amsterdam High School hosted the 250th U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Ball on Feb. 13, welcoming more than 150 guests for an evening rooted in tradition, service and community partnership.
The ceremony marked a historic milestone for the Marine Corps and provided a meaningful educational experience for students in the district’s Cadet program. The event highlighted the values of leadership, commitment and discipline that align with the mission of the Greater Amsterdam School District.
The evening opened with an invocation from GASD Board of Education President Rev. McHeard, who recognized each Cadet aspiring to serve in the nation’s armed forces.
“This was more than a celebration of history,” said Sgt. James Bautista. “It was an opportunity for our Cadets to take part in a tradition that reflects the honor, discipline and commitment required to serve. Hosting this milestone at Amsterdam High School made it even more meaningful.”
The event was supported by the PFC Dwyer Fund of Montgomery County. Additional thanks were extended to Aiden Rodriguez for serving as disc jockey, the Rodriguez family for providing photography, and Amsterdam High School’s National Honor Society students, who assisted with setup, service and cleanup.
The event reinforced the partnership between the school community and those who serve while honoring a once-in-a-generation milestone for the Marine Corps.
