Amsterdam eighth grader Tay’mierah Gomez delivered a record-breaking performance on a national stage, earning first place in the Middle School Division long jump at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York City.
Competing against top student-athletes from across the country, Gomez recorded an outstanding jump of 17 feet, 9 inches, surpassing her own previous school record and securing the national title.
District officials and coaches praised Gomez’s dedication and work ethic, noting that her achievement reflects both her individual commitment and the strength of Amsterdam’s athletic programs.
