The Amsterdam High School Drama Club will present its spring musical production of Mean Girls: High School Version with three performances scheduled in the AHS Auditorium.
Based on the popular 2004 film, the musical follows the story of Cady Heron, a teenager who transitions from being homeschooled in Africa to navigating the complex social dynamics of a suburban high school in Illinois. As she encounters the school’s most influential clique — known as The Plastics — Cady finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of popularity, friendship and rivalry.
Led by the charismatic yet formidable Regina George, The Plastics dominate the social scene, prompting Cady and her friends to devise a plan to challenge Regina’s reign. Along the way, Cady learns valuable lessons about identity, integrity and the consequences of seeking acceptance in the wrong ways.
Performances will take place Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 21 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and will be sold at the door. Concessions will be available for purchase before each performance and during intermission. Show-themed shirts will also be available for attendees.
Due to mature themes and strong language, parental or guardian discretion is advised for younger audience members.
Community members are encouraged to attend and support the talented student performers and production team during this entertaining and engaging theatrical event.
