MJROTC Visit

Over the course of two days, 35 MCJROTC cadets facilitated a physical fitness and leadership clinic for students at Lynch Literacy Middle School.

Cadets led students through a series of activities, including a plank contest, sprint contest, tug of war and a quick reaction drill. Each session concluded with a leadership discussion focused on the negative effects of vaping and bullying.

As part of the leadership component, cadets performed two scripted scenarios reflecting situations students may encounter upon entering high school. The scenarios addressed how to respond when encouraged to vape and why students should not record or promote physical altercations. Following each scenario, cadets guided students through appropriate and responsible ways to respond.

The visit also provided an opportunity for cadets to answer questions and serve as role models for middle school students.

Principal Krystal Hammond and coaches McHeard, Jones, Schreinier and Orengo supported the event and provided space for the clinic over both days.

District officials said the event was a success and noted plans to return during the fourth quarter, with the goal of inviting Lynch students to participate in the annual MCJROTC Super Squad event.
