Lynch Theatre Performance

Students in the Theatre 8 program at Lynch Literacy Academy presented an original showcase on March 26, featuring three student-written performances inspired by Caribbean folktales.

The eighth grade actors created scripts that retold stories from Cuba, Puerto Rico and Guyana. In addition to writing and performing, students designed and built their own sets, incorporating details from their research on Taíno culture and the indigenous people of the Caribbean islands.

The showcase highlighted both creative expression and cultural exploration, as students brought their interpretations of traditional stories to the stage.

“LLA’s Theatre 8 program is in its second year and I could not be more proud of the impact this troupe of young actors have had,” said Dalisa Soto-Peruzzi, music and theatre teacher at Lynch Literacy Academy. “At our showcase and at our school-wide assembly, our students were courageous and daring enough to imagine and create. They were all so successful bringing their stories to life on our beautiful stage. It truly was a celebration of our roots, our stories, and our cultura. A beautiful way to finish celebrating Arts in Our Schools Month.”

The performance served as a culminating experience for students, showcasing their work in writing, design and performance while celebrating culture and storytelling.
