AHS Community Event

Amsterdam High School students participated in a community environmental project on Tuesday, helping to plant trees along a new section of the Chuctanunda Creek Trail in the City of Amsterdam.

Members of the AHS Adventure Club collaborated with the AHS Learning Pathways Program (LPP), as well as students from the STEP/CSTEP programs at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The effort was supported by Friends of the Chuctanunda Creek and Montgomery County Soil & Water Conservation District.

During the project, students planted trees and applied mulch to support the growth and long-term sustainability of the trail area. The experience provided students with an opportunity to contribute to a local environmental initiative while learning about conservation and stewardship.

Following the planting, students participated in a guided walk along the trail led by John Naple, president of Friends of the Chuctanunda Creek, who shared insights about the trail and ongoing efforts to preserve the natural resource.

The project highlighted the value of community partnerships and provided students with a hands-on learning experience focused on environmental responsibility and local engagement.
