Barkley Reading

Amsterdam High School students recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Barkley Elementary as part of their public speaking course.

During the trip, high school students read aloud to younger learners, providing an opportunity to apply their public speaking skills in a real-world setting. The experience allowed students to build confidence, practice delivery and engage with an audience in a meaningful way.

Younger students at Barkley Elementary were enthusiastic participants, enjoying the stories and interaction with their high school peers. The visit created a positive learning environment for both groups, combining skill development with community connection.

The field trip highlights the value of hands-on learning opportunities that support communication skills while fostering relationships across grade levels within the district.
