The Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program at Marie Curie Elementary School in the Greater Amsterdam School District has earned a 5-star rating through QUALITYstarsNY, the highest distinction awarded by the state’s early childhood quality rating and improvement system.

The 5-star rating recognizes programs that demonstrate excellence in key areas, including learning environment, curriculum, instruction and family engagement. The designation reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality early learning experiences that support the development of every child.

“This recognition speaks to the outstanding work happening in our UPK classrooms each day,” said Superintendent Richard Ruberti. “Our staff is dedicated to creating engaging, supportive learning environments while building strong partnerships with families, and this 5-star rating is a direct reflection of that commitment.”

Marie Curie Elementary’s UPK classrooms provide students with a strong foundation for future learning through developmentally appropriate instruction and hands-on experiences. The program also emphasizes collaboration with families to support student growth both in and out of the classroom.

Registration for the Greater Amsterdam School District’s UPK program for the 2026–27 school year is currently open.
