The Greater Amsterdam School District has released a new video showcasing the continued growth and impact of its robotics program, now in its second year.
The video highlights student experiences within the program and the ways in which participation has influenced both their academic development and future aspirations. Through hands-on learning opportunities, students work collaboratively to design, build and refine robotic systems, applying skills in engineering, coding and problem-solving.
Students featured in the video describe how the program has introduced them to new concepts and career pathways they had not previously considered. In addition to gaining technical knowledge, students emphasized the importance of communication and teamwork, noting that success in robotics requires strong collaboration and the ability to think critically under pressure.
The program has also provided opportunities for students to engage in real-world applications of classroom learning. By participating in competitions and project-based challenges, students are able to test their ideas, adapt to setbacks and continuously improve their work in a supportive team environment.
Superintendent Richard Ruberti said the robotics program reflects the district’s commitment to expanding opportunities for students and preparing them for future success.
“Our robotics program is giving students the chance to explore high-demand fields while developing skills that will benefit them in any path they choose,” Ruberti said. “What’s most impressive is seeing how quickly students build confidence in themselves—learning how to collaborate, problem-solve and push through challenges. These are experiences that will stay with them well beyond the classroom.”
The robotics team recently participated in a regional competition at MVP Arena, continuing to build momentum as the program grows. While competition provides valuable experience, district officials noted that the most significant impact is seen in the day-to-day growth of students involved in the program.
As the program continues to expand, district leaders said they are focused on providing students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction with real-world applications.
