The Board of Education for the Greater Amsterdam School District (GASD) has announced upcoming Personal Voter Registration events to ensure all eligible community members have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming election.
In accordance with District policy, personal registration is available for residents who wish to cast their vote and are not currently registered to vote with the county, but who are otherwise qualified within the District.
Important Information for Attendees:
Identification: All individuals seeking to register must present a valid photo ID that includes their date of birth.
Verify Your Status: Before attending, residents are encouraged to confirm their current registration status with the county. You can check your status online through the New York State Voter Lookup portal at https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/.
Eligibility: If you are already registered to vote in general, county, or town elections, you are already qualified to vote in the school district election and do not need to register again.
Registration Details:
Option 1: Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the GASD District Office, 121 Miami Avenue.
Option 2: Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Amsterdam High School in the Commons.
Who Needs to Register? Registration is open to all eligible voters within the District. Per District policy, the voter register will include:
All persons registering personally for this specific election.
Individuals who have previously registered for any annual budget referendum, special meeting, or election conducted within the four calendar years preceding this year.
Any person registered under the provisions of Election Law Section 5-612(2) and its amendments.
Residents are reminded that, per state requirements, the final day for voter registration must occur no less than five days and no more than 14 days prior to the election date.
