The Greater Amsterdam School District Educational Foundation hosted its Fourth Annual Educational Foundation Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 16, at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course.
The annual tournament serves as the Foundation’s only fundraiser of the year and supports programs and opportunities for students and staff throughout the district.
The Educational Foundation was established in 2021 by GASD Superintendent Richard Ruberti, who helped develop an executive team that oversees grant requests and fundraising efforts designed to expand opportunities for students across the district. Since its creation, the Foundation has raised more than $63,000, helping fund College in the High School tuition for more than 50 students, field trips, classroom technology, athletic equipment, an elementary garden program and other enrichment opportunities throughout GASD.
Saturday’s tournament featured a foursome scramble format along with contests including Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and a Putting Contest. District officials said the event once again brought together community members, sponsors, staff and volunteers in support of students across the district.
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community, sponsors, golfers and volunteers who help make this event possible each year,” Ruberti said. “The Educational Foundation continues to create meaningful opportunities for our students, and this tournament plays an important role in supporting those efforts.”
The Foundation also recognized and thanked its sponsors for their continued support of Greater Amsterdam School District students and programs.
