Mean Girls

The Amsterdam High School Drama Club was recognized at the High School Musical Theatre Awards on Saturday, May 16, at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, earning the Award for Outstanding Musical (Tier C) for its production of Mean Girls: High School Version.

Students spent the week leading up to the event rehearsing and preparing their group performance on the Proctors Mainstage while working alongside Proctors staff and crew. The club then performed during Saturday evening’s awards ceremony, which celebrates high school musical productions from across the region.

The recognition highlights the dedication and talent of the students involved in the production, both on stage and behind the scenes.

“This recognition is a tremendous accomplishment for our students and a reflection of the hard work, talent and commitment they brought to this production,” Drama Club Director Christopher Stefani said. “We are incredibly proud of the entire cast and crew for representing Amsterdam High School so well on such a prestigious stage.”

The High School Musical Theatre Awards program provides students with the opportunity to perform and be recognized in a professional theatre setting while celebrating excellence in high school musical theatre programs throughout the Capital Region and beyond.
