Barkley Elementary School students combined a love of reading with community service during this year’s Ronald McDonald House Read-a-Thon, raising a school-record $3,476.
A total of 57 students participated in the fundraiser, earning certificates and prizes in recognition of their efforts. The funds raised will support Ronald McDonald House Charities and the organization’s mission of helping families with children receiving medical care.
Students were recognized for their accomplishments last Friday during a certificate and prize presentation.
To celebrate their success, participants will took part in a Water Fun Day in the Barkley courtyard this week.
The record-setting fundraiser highlights the generosity of Barkley students and their commitment to supporting others while promoting the importance of reading.
