The Greater Amsterdam School District recently became aware of allegations involving inappropriate communication between an employee at Amsterdam High School and a student.
Upon receiving this information, district administration immediately initiated an investigation in cooperation with local law enforcement, notified the student’s parent/guardian, and took immediate action to address the matter. The employee has since submitted their resignation, which the district has accepted.
We are sharing this information as part of our commitment to transparency with our school community. Because this is an active investigation involving a student and personnel matters, we are limited in the details we can share out of respect for privacy rights and the integrity of the investigative process. However, please be assured that the individual in question is no longer employed by the Greater Amsterdam School District.
Please know that the district is treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and will continue to follow all appropriate legal and administrative procedures as the investigation moves forward.
