The Greater Amsterdam School District has announced several elementary leadership changes that will take effect Sept. 1, including the transfers of John Miller to Barkley Elementary School and appointment of Megan Togaila to Tecler Elementary School, pending approval by the Board of Education.
Miller will transfer from his role as principal of Tecler Elementary to serve as principal of Barkley Elementary. He will transition to Barkley following Nancy Rad’s decision to return to her role as community schools coordinator, a position she previously held within the district and expressed interest in resuming.
Miller has served the Greater Amsterdam School District since 2004 and has been principal of Tecler Elementary since 2016. He previously served as an assistant principal and Elementary Teacher in the district.
Togaila has been with the district since 2012, beginning her career at McNulty Elementary, where she taught kindergarten and first grade. She was promoted to assistant principal at McNulty in July 2025. Togaila has also led the district’s Extended School Year summer program and summer enrichment program for the past two summers.
“These transitions allow us to place experienced leaders who know our district and understand the needs of our students, staff and families in positions where they can continue to make a positive impact,” said Superintendent Richard Ruberti. “We look forward to seeing John and Megan bring their experience and leadership to their new school communities.”
The district is actively working to fill the assistant principal vacancy at McNulty Elementary created by Togaila’s pending appointment. Additional information will be shared with the McNulty school community as the process moves forward.
The district looks forward to Miller and Togaila beginning their new roles and continuing their service to Greater Amsterdam students, staff and families.
