Amsterdam High School senior Rocco Natale Jr. delivered a record-setting performance Friday night against South Glens Falls, continuing to add to an already historic career with the Rams.
Natale accounted for seven touchdowns and 429 all-purpose yards during the game. He finished with 12 receptions for 253 yards and five receiving touchdowns, along with a two-point conversion reception. He also returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown and an interception 95 yards for another score.
On defense, Natale recorded 13 tackles.
His five receiving touchdowns tied the New York state record for the second-most receiving touchdowns in a single game while establishing a new Amsterdam single-game record. Natale also set the program’s single-game receiving yards record with 253 yards.
The performance brought Natale’s career total to 204 receptions, placing him third all-time in New York state history.
“I went into Friday with a chip on my shoulder after a tough loss to Troy,” Natale said. “I knew I had to set the expectation for the team being a captain. Our team worked way too hard in the offseason to start the season off that way.”
Natale’s latest performance adds to a growing list of accomplishments during his Amsterdam career as he continues to climb the state record books.
