The Greater Amsterdam School District is recognizing three students as Musicians of the Month for their dedication, leadership and contributions to their school music programs.
This month's honorees are Amsterdam High School seniors Abby Grant and Jordy Brinkerhoff, and Marie Curie Elementary School fifth grader Eliza Palma.
Abby Grant — Amsterdam High School Select Chorus
Grant is a senior and longtime member of the Amsterdam High School Select Chorus. She has demonstrated dedication to the district's music program through her leadership, involvement and willingness to support fellow chorus members.
Whether assisting her vocal section, participating in fundraising efforts or performing the national anthem at homecoming, Grant continues to contribute to the school's music program.
Beyond chorus, Grant is involved in several school activities, including serving as co-captain of the swim team, president of Student Council and treasurer of the AHS Drama Club. She also participates in the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, yearbook and Operation SMILE.
Grant is looking forward to participating in the AHS Drama Club's fall musical, scheduled for Nov. 6-8, where she will perform in multiple roles.

Eliza Palma — Marie Curie Elementary School Guitar
Palma, a fifth grader at Marie Curie Elementary School, has taken on a leadership role in the school's guitar program this year.
During the first few practices of the school year, Palma stepped up to help teach guitar to her classmates, providing guidance and encouragement to students who are new to the instrument.
Her willingness to share her skills has made her a mentor to her peers as they develop their musical abilities.
Palma said she is excited to take a turn as a teacher while continuing to learn and teach new songs.

Jordy Brinkerhoff — Amsterdam High School Percussion
Brinkerhoff is a senior percussionist, tenor-line section leader and key member of the indoor percussion program at Amsterdam High School.
Throughout his time in the music program, Brinkerhoff has demonstrated leadership and teamwork. As a senior, he has taken on an expanded leadership role, supporting fellow percussionists both on the field and behind the scenes.
Having played drums since he was 2 years old, Brinkerhoff enjoys sharing his knowledge and helping other students develop their musical abilities. He especially values the relationships he has built with members of his section and the opportunity to teach as a section leader.
The Greater Amsterdam School District congratulates Grant, Palma and Brinkerhoff on their recognition and thanks them for their continued contributions to the district's music programs.
